Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that enhances the appearance of the eyebrows by using a fine blade to deposit pigment into the skin. It creates hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs.
Procedure Duration:
The entire microblading process typically takes about 2 to 3 hours. This includes consultation, mapping the desired brow shape, and the actual microblading.
Longevity:
The results of microblading can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years, depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Typically, a touch-up is recommended after 4-6 weeks of the initial procedure to perfect the results.
Pre-Care Instructions:
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (like aspirin or ibuprofen) for at least 24 hours before the procedure.
Do not take fish oil or Vitamin E for a week before the procedure, as these are natural blood thinners.
Avoid tanning or having a sunburned face.
Refrain from waxing, threading, or tweezing eyebrows a few days before the procedure.
Discontinue Retin-A or other anti-aging or acne creams a week before the procedure.
If you are on any medications or have any medical conditions, consult with your artist.
Post-Care Instructions:
Avoid getting them wet in the shower and avoid activities that cause sweating for 3 days.
Clean your eyebrows with cool down boiled water before applying the aftercare skin candy cream.
Do not apply makeup on the brows for at least 10 days.
Apply the recommended ointment to the brows two times a day for three days.
Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the brows.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and laser treatments on the face during the healing process.
Do not use facial scrubs or peels during the healing period.
Follow any additional instructions provided by your microblading artist.
Proper pre-care and post-care are essential for achieving the best results and ensuring the longevity of the microblading.
Is it painful?
The pain experienced during microblading varies from person to person, but it is generally considered to be manageable. Most people describe the sensation as uncomfortable rather than painful, similar to light scratching or the feeling of tweezing.
Factors Influencing Pain:
Individual Pain Tolerance: Some people have a higher pain threshold and may find the procedure less uncomfortable.
Numbing Gel: A topical anesthetic is usually applied during the procedure to minimize discomfort. The effectiveness of the numbing gel can greatly influence the level of pain experienced.
Skin Sensitivity: People with more sensitive skin might experience more discomfort.
Managing Pain
Before the Procedure: Ensure that the skin is well-prepped and follow any pre-care instructions to avoid unnecessary sensitivity.
During the Procedure: Communicate with your microblading artist about any discomfort so they can reapply numbing cream if necessary.
After the Procedure: Some mild soreness or tenderness is normal, similar to the feeling of a sunburn. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen can help manage this. As soon as you start using the aftercare skin candy cream you feel much better and relief from soreness.
Overall, while there is some level of discomfort associated with microblading, most clients find it tolerable and worth the final result of enhanced eyebrows.

Microbladed eyebrows can last for up to 3 years, depending on things like skin type and age. At a minimum, your new brows will last for 12 months and another touch-up session after this time should get your brows looking back to their best. Regardless, a touch-up session is recommended at least every 12-18 months.
